Разработка к видеоматериалу Water Pollution. The Dirty Details (Загрязнение воды. “Грязные” подробности)

Тема “Защита окружающей среды” (Environmental Protection) является одной из наиболее серьезных и сложных тем при изучении английского языка. Трудности возникают из-за необходимости запоминания большого количества лексического материала и определений (например, источники загрязнения окружающей среды (sources of environmental pollution), виды загрязнения (types of pollution) и т.п.). Чтобы помочь Вам лучше разобраться в этой теме, предлагаю просмотреть следующее видео. В нем рассказывается о загрязнении воды в США, штат Флорида, и разных источниках этого загрязнения. К видео подготовлены задания, которые проверяют понимание просмотренного и способствуют запоминанию определенного набора лексики.

Первое задание выполняется до просмотра ролика (previewing). Необходимо подобрать правильные определения к словам, встречающимся в видео. Нужно постараться выполнить это задание без использования словаря. Последующие задания нацелены на проверку понимания просмотренного видео.

   4. Water pollution is the contamination of water by harmful chemicals or waste materials by people only.
   5. Many of the things people do every day decrease the amount of water pollution.
   6. A body of water is considered to be polluted when it is no longer usable by people or other living things.
   7. There are 2 main types of water pollution: point source and nonpoint source.
   8. Point source pollution is difficult to identify, control or manage.
   9. Point source pollution can’t be traced to a single source.
   10. Nonpoint source pollution comes from 1 place and there is a specific source of this pollution.
3. Distribute the following sources of pollution according to the main forms of point and nonpoint source water pollution (some sources can be used more than once).

   Turpentine, bits of soil and wood, runoff from animal waste, food / paper plants, septic tank leak, fertilizers, sewage, slaughter house, detergents, oil spills, landfills.
